Governance
Articles of association
The governing document of the association, together with the legislation it operates under.
The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association was established with its objectives set out in the Memorandum of Association, and it continues to be the representative body of the sugar mills all over Pakistan.
The Association was established and run under the Trade Organization Ordinance No. XLV of 1961, and the licence granted under the Companies Act 1913 as a company without the word “Limited” in its name — until the Government of Pakistan promulgated Ordinance No. XXXI of 2007 on 5 June 2007, regulating the registration of trade organizations. Under it, the Trade Organization Rules 2007 were issued by SRO dated 7 June 2007.
The new Ordinance and Rules repealed the existing ordinance and rules, including all licences issued in the past to trade organizations, chambers and associations. PSMA applied afresh, conforming to the laid-down qualifications and fulfilling the necessary documentation, and its new licence was granted on 17 May 2008.
The governing legislation
The Acts below govern the registration and conduct of trade organisations in Pakistan, and therefore the association itself. Both are published in full under Acts & orders.
